The Brown Drakes on the North Branch are just getting started. There have been consistent reports of hatches above Lovells bridge. It has been tough getting on them downstream so far but they should be hatching strongly this coming weekend into next week. The First week of June has made for some great daytime dry fly fishing, a mix of Sulphurs, Drakes, Mahoganies, caddis and stones keep things interesting. Attractor patterns like Borchers, Adams and Patriots are working well also. The first day of summer is just two weeks away and its finally starting to feel that way here in northern Michigan. Now is the time to get out there and enjoy some long awaited dry fly fishing! We still have some prime summer dates available for guided fishing give us a call or email to book! Make our historic lodge and B&B your basecamp for this summer's up north adventures! Its hard to beat days on the water in the long boat this time of year. Join us Saturday June 21st 10am-3 at North Branch Outing Club for the 15th Annual Michiglass Fly Rod Gathering. Those who wish to attend are welcome to bring their rods and reels. This is a great opportunity to learn more about vintage rods and some of the latest in fiberglass fly rod tapers. Makers will include Mike McFarland of McFarland Rod Company and Mark McKellip of McKellip Brothers Rod Company. We are also encouraging folk to bring Rods and reels to show or sell. The Fly-Shop is open 7 days a week 10-4pm this month.
